Maxime Deuse

After obtaining a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Liège, Maxime completed studies in management engineering at the HEC (Liège). He is an entrepreneur at heart, with a passion for digital innovation. In 2016, together with his twin brother Julien, he founded Deuse, our IT engineering company.

Thanks to his many collaborations with companies from different sectors and, of course, developing their own business, Maxime quickly adapts to each possible field. He knows that companies today face different challenges and that it is important to identify them in order to provide the best possible solution.

As our company grows, we work more and more on interesting projects. That is my passion: realising projects that have a real impact for our customers. It is motivating to implement different solutions for different projects.

Do you have a favourite type of project?

No, not really. What counts for me is that the project is intellectually stimulating and ends up in the hands of real users, whether internal to a company or external, in B2C. I like to imagine an interface that users will enjoy using. It is up to us to think about a solution that will perfectly meet our customers' needs and offer a pleasant, intuitive user experience. It's the thinking part that I particularly enjoy in projects, it's very challenging.

What inspired you to set up your own software engineering company?

Together with my brother Julien, I developed an international webtoon platform, which enjoyed great success. We then sold it to a company in Silicon Valley, and after this first successful experience, we became convinced of the idea of starting our own company.

We loved developing the platform and we wanted to continue in the same direction: developing customised digital solutions, but this time for other people. After some asking around, it turned out that at that time there was no company in the Liège market that did what we wanted to do - develop with a Silicon Valley mentality. So we went ahead and did what we wanted to do, and we never looked back!

Is there a project that has stood out for you since the launch of Deuse?

There are plenty of projects that have impressed me, whether in terms of the relationship with the customer or the project and development itself. To name but a few, there's Fluxys, Bridgestone, Spa GP, WEX, etc. We are known for building real partnerships with our customers, so it's hard to pick one project in particular. They're all different, and they've given me a lot, both professionally and in terms of relationships.

What do you like about your work?

The variety of projects we develop means that they all have specific issues, which we have to analyse and solve in different ways. I collaborate at the beginning of the project, when thinking about how to solve a specific issue and what needs to be designed to do so. Only then do we hand over to the production team, which will put everything into practice. I find it very motivating to start a project, meet a new customer, discover a sector and its challenges, and then choose the best possible approach.
